Sir,

At the Ninth Annual Conference of the British Common- wealth League held on June 13th, 14th and 15th, the following resolution was passed unanimously by delegates from over forty British and overseas women's organisations.

"The British Commonwealth League in conference assembled

demands: 1) That, since "Deeds of Presentation and "Adoption Deeds" show that adopted daughters are pur- chased, and the subterfuge of adoption is used as a means of obtaining Mui Tsai, the so-called adopted daughters should be registered forthwith, such regis- tration should be followed by inspection It further urges, 2) That the pledges given by the British Govern- ment for the inspection of the Mui Tsai in Hong Kong should be implemented by the immediate appointment of the necessary additional number of inspectors, inclu- ding women inspectors, to carry out this inspection fully and systematically"

We would recommend this matter to your earnest consider. ation, since the Resolution represents the considered opini of thousands of Women citizens all over the world.

I have the honour to be,

Your obedient servant,

Sir,

M. Chave Collisson

Hon. Political Secretary.
